What Exactly Is The Unforgivable Sin?

Hello friends! Whilst doing my regular perusings of the interwebs, I came to find out that many people don't fully understand what the unforgivable sin, blaspheming the Holy Spirit actually is, so I would like to set the record straight. When you see this concept being brought up in the bible, It's told by Jesus in the book of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Mathew gives the most detailed account, but Luke gives more context into understanding the true meaning of what blaspheming the Holy Spirit actually is. Most people believe that blaspheming the Holy Spirit is when you contribute the works of God to Satan, but this is NOT TRUE. And if that were the case, then Christians wouldn't need a spirit of discernment in order to determine what actually was from God or not. Many of God's miracles can be mimicked by Satan (re: magicians in Exodus) so sometimes it's almost impossible to tell the difference between God and Satan because Satan copies Him so much. Many other people believe that blaspheming the Holy Spirit means to place oneself in the position of God and that that is the unforgivable sin. This is also incorrect. While it's rare to see someone who thinks that they are literally God, become humble and repent in the bible, one person who placed themselves as being a judge for God when they had no right, was Paul. Before Paul converted to Christianity, he rounded up Christians and killed them for following Jesus, but God spoke to him and Paul became transformed and stopped what he was doing. God FORGAVE Paul for this blasphemy and he was able to change many lives and win souls to Christ because of it.

So if neither of those examples are what the unforgivable sin is, what exactly is the unforgivable sin? The unforgivable sin is not accepting Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior. And this is considered blaspheming the Holy Spirit because when you get saved, the Holy Spirit gets sent to live in your heart. And when you reject the Holy Spirit for your whole life you are placing yourself as God in your life. When you reject Jesus you make the statement that you believe that you are God and that you don't need God. When Jesus was speaking to the crowd that called Him a demon, He was speaking to a crowd of people who KNEW that He was operating in God's power, but were WILLFULLY refusing to acknowledge it. And that can be shown by the verses below:

'You say I am empowered by Satan. But if Satan is divided and fighting against himself, how can his kingdom survive? And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said. But if I am casting out demons by the power of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you. ' Luke 11:18-20

Jesus was calling out their refusal to repent and turn to Christ for salvation, NOT their identification of who was performing the miracles. Jesus was getting to the heart of what was truly being expressed; and they were expressing that they didn't need God. And this can be further proved in Luke 12.

' “I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels. Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. '

Luke 12:8-10

So this goes to show that the unforgivable sin is not accepting Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior. So Christians (by definition) CAN NOT commit this sin because we ALREADY have accepted Jesus into our lives to lead us and guide us on our paths. So inhale and exhale babes because if you are a Christian then you are good! But if you aren't a Christian and would like to be, you can click this link down below to follow the steps to become one!
